About Me

Andy Lin is an Asian composer who was born and raised in Brattleboro Vermont. When he became 9, his parents had him take piano lessons at the town’s local music center. At a young age he was introduced to anime such as, Spirited Away, Pokemon and Naruto. In freshman year of high school, he became exposed to more and more anime, whether they were mainstream or not, and became fascinated by the story and artwork. When Andy entered senior year of high school he started studying music theory and became engrossed in it.
After graduating, he attended Franklin Pierce University in Rindge New Hampshire, studying Music Technology. While there, Andy was wondering what he wanted to do in music, eventually he started paying attention to the soundtracks of anime. While watching his favorite anime, Violet Evergarden, he became inspired and interested in the soundtrack and orchestral music. He eventually did a rescore for the first time of one of his favorite anime, Shirobako, and during the process from start to finish, he realized that this is what he wanted to do.
Andy is heavily inspired by anime composer Evan Call, who composed the music for Violet Evergarden. Evan Call’s music and background inspired Andy to audition at Berklee College of Music where he got accepted. There he majored in Film and Media Scoring with a minor in Video Game Scoring and he continues to learn and apply his knowledge to his compositions while experiencing the film scoring curriculums. During his time there, he has performed on the piano and keyboard for the Berklee Anime Band and has helped compose music for several student films and games from USC, MassArt, University of Wisconsin-Stout, and Fitchburg State University

Andy hopes to continue composing after graduating, creating music for film and video games but hopes to one day compose soundtracks for anime in Japan. As of right now, he is currently doing a Masters Degree in Film Scoring on Berklee Online.
